Questions And Answers About Mormonism

Mary asks…

Why are most Christians intolerable towards Mormonism?

I don’t know why Christians are so hateful towards Mormonism? My mom called the Mormons in my neighborhood devil-worshipers privately to me. Why? I know that they don’t worship the devil. They are against the devil.

Gossip Queen answers:

I think you mean “intolerant”.

Anyway, I don’t know if “most” Christians are as you say. But many are. I find it a bit ironic that so many Christians are hateful towards others who believe differently, when many of the central tenets of their own religion teach not to hate, even those you disagree with.

Many Christians pervert the values of their own religion.

EDIT – Just as an added thought, I do find Mormonism particularly hard to swallow. One has to believe a man, whose claims smell of charlatanism, was a divinely inspired Prophet, clarifying an already hard to swallow religion. But I don’t hate Mormons or any other Christians (yes, Mormonism is a type of Christianity). I simply don’t concur with their beliefs. But I disagree with most people, in one way or another. I don’t relate to the hate. If anything, Christians should have learned to hate even LESS. After all, that’s what the writings regarding Jesus all teach.

Robert asks…

Why does LDS Mormonism think they are the only church that has authority to translate the bible ?

Mormonism LDS people always say the bible is accurate as long as its translated correctly.
And according to them, their church is the only one that has authority to translate, so obviously they think they r the best “church” and i only say church because they say their a church.

Now, if i said i was a clown, we can’t all assume i’m a clown. its not fact, so i’m not saying for fact that their a church just because they say they are.

Or any other thing, a person can say their any thing, but only fact stands up.

Gossip Queen answers:

Yea it would be like Mahammad came along and said that the angel gave him the missing pieces from the bible that is what joseph smith said, he took his Urim and Thummin (stones or pagan object) and returned back to the bible what was taken out and who said anythign was taken out an dhad ot be put back in, I still get rhemas from my bible as is, and I never got a rhemas formt he mormon KJV bible and I read it three times and nothing!!!!

Donald asks…

Is anyone else seeing a lot of adds for Mormonism around lately?

I notice there are a lot of ads for the Church of Latter Days Saints lately. I clicked on an ad once and now I see them all the time. Are they just directed towards me by cookies or something or is everyone getting these things?

Is Mormonism on the rise?

Gossip Queen answers:

I’ve seen a few Mormon ads and I’ve answered a ton of questions about the Church. I’ve been getting a lot of local telephone/cell phone ads,at least they’re better than the teeth whitening ads. There was a Haband ad on this question. Now this answer is the first I’ve typed the word Haband in, though I do a lot of shopping with Haband. Go figure.

Jenny asks…

Is Mormonism the right way to go for me?

I have had a feeling that Mormonism is the way that I need to go. I have had the feeling for quite some time now, but I’m not completely sure. The Latter Day Saints just feels right to me, but I’m not sure if I should join the church. What should I do to try to resolve this problem?

Gossip Queen answers:

It seems to work for a lot of people.
I would say go worship with them on Sundays, maybe talk to the missionaries, if you have any LDS friends then hang out with them and their families, maybe you could go to some of their social events…
Don’t make your decision too soon.
When you’re absolutely sure that LDS is right for you – then get baptized.

Carol asks…

Does Mormonism believe there is one God or many Gods?

Also:

If Mormons do not believe Jesus is God, what do they believe about him?

How is one saved in Mormonism?

Gossip Queen answers:

We have one God, the Eternal Father of us all. We believe in Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. God is the Father, and his divine Son is Jesus Christ. They are Father and Son.

God taught us this relationship through the prophet Abraham. God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Issac. Abraham, though in anguish of loosing his son, had faith and obedience and was about to do so.

God stopped Abraham, but then told him that it represented what He, God was going to have to do with His Son, Jesus Christ. Christ was to be, and is, the Savior of the world, he whom God sacrificed.

Steven asks…

Is there an ecumenical movement within Mormonism?

Apparently there are quite a few branches of Mormonism (with the LDS being by far the largest).

Are there any movements to try to reunify these disparate groups (like we see with ecumenism within Christianity)?

Do any of the Latter Day churches send out missionaries to other Latter Day communities?

Gossip Queen answers:

I know of no present effort by the LDS church to target Mormon splinter groups for proselyting. If there are any that want to join the LDS church, all they have to do is repent and be baptized, and they will be welcomed into fellowship.

Sandy asks…

So if I convert to mormonism, do I have to do one of those missionary trips to a random city in the US?

Can I just convert to mormonism and take the missionary trip to some random city? Or is that only for inbred (pure blooded) mormons? Cause I could go for an all expenses paid trip to a random city for a year.

Gossip Queen answers:

Ha, inbred. Lol
